he doesn't want to have a deep, emotional conversation about how he feels undergoing this angel transformation. it's fine. it's - it is what it is. the perks are vastly outweighing the cons right now. who needs sleep anyway? and not needing to eat means that he's not going to be sucking up valuable resources.
its fine. or will be for a while, at least. and so he leaves lloyd and law to their own devices and starts making some contacts around town.
eventually he makes his way back to the house lloyd's staying in. rapping his knuckles against the doorframe as he steps inside. ]
[Lloyd still has to sleep because he's not an IDIOT who let themselves GO ALL ANGEL-- but even then, he's still awake. It's been a weird, busy day, but Zelos did say he'd be coming over. He'd been laying on the bed, but just-- sits upright when Zelos enters, legs sticking up, and then using the leverage to just see-saw upwards into sitting.
Just like Colette, Zelos looks the same. Acts the same. Still talks the same. But it's weird knowing how much is going on underneath. He can't help the way his eyes dip to the crystal at Zelos's breastbone, it's alternate-universe twin tucked in its brass cage underneath his own shirt.]
Oh, hey! Here I was worried you got lost. C'mon in.
[At least Noishe is here, snoozing with quiet little puppy snores on the foot of the bed. And looking almost all the way normal. Still a little weird around the ears, but whatever. He's recognizeable.]
[It would be great if these medallions would like, ring or something? To give the person on the other end a heads up that someone was calling to talk to them. But they don't, so out of the blue one evening Kratos's voice suddenly comes out of the medallion, following a brief throat clearing AHEM.]
[Man, poor medallion design, 0/10. Can't even screen your calls. Some asshole just says yoiur name and here you are, acoustically connected. The throat-clear gets his attention and initial confusion, but thankfully that helps him remember that, right, he's being called.
Too bad phones didn't exist in Sylavarant or maybe he'd have a better idea of what to do with this. Oh well, just gonna. Pick that up! Physically! Which is likely unnecessary!]
(everything is a little too loud for her right now. her mind is definitely not in the right place, so she needs a place of her own, one which she wouldn't usually be found, so to their treehouse jinx goes. the lack of lloyd's things or the way nothing had moved tells her he hasn't been here for a hot minute, and she sighs as she drops to the floor, wrapping a blanket around herself.
that is, until she hears the hatchet open. quick as no one else, she has her handgun in her hands, pointed towards the intruder before she realizes it's her friend. she spins it to show her palms.)
[Who knows when they actually pieced this thing together, but given both of them being hyperactive teens with way too much crafting experience? It was probably just a whirlwind of a two-day affair. Relatively high up in a tree near Coba, out of the bulk of the incense. It's like a dumb secret hideout in the area, and a good place to stop when travelling between cities. Without, you know. Having to deal with Coba's constant partying.
Or, more recently, without feeling like you're using up Coba's resources that could be going to the survivors from Kiichpan.
At least the more he hangs out with Jinx, the more used to having guns randomly drawn on him he is. And so he just gives her a flat look at the whipping out of a pistol, before she's putting it up.]
You and Kratos have the same reflex, I swear.... [Both y'all SO WILLING TO TRY AND KILL HIM just for sneakin' up. Oh well, he's crawling up, shuffling off a backpack as Noishe SOMEHOW CLAWS HIS WAY UP ALSO? After closing the little hatch behind them, Lloyd pulls out a skein of water to offer her, before crouching down to work on removing Noishe's incense-mask.]
You been here long?
[It's been a bit since he had, as she'd noticed-- travelling between all the towns and all like a good JRPG boy chasing sidequests.]
(listen, noishee takes priority. her body moves without her willing to open her arms for the giant dog creature and she relishes in the softness of the fur, squeezing him just a little bit. it's just what she needed, soothingly pressing her face against his back.)
Well, kind of your fault. I wasn't expecting you, you know. Would definitely have shot-- good thing I didn't?
(she shakes her head to the water, pointing at the bottle of alcohol she's been nursing. this place is boring, a girl needs hobbies.)
Yeah. Bad brain day. Just trying to calm down for a bit.
[It's been a few hours since the announcement about Jinx's little kaboom appeared. Kratos would have called sooner but he's kind of been busy being patched up my Sophia who is a true bro. It's quite a bit later than when he usually calls Lloyd, but dammit he promised Zelos that he would call Lloyd every night SO HE IS. He hopes he's not waking Lloyd up, BUT...]
[SURPRISINGLY he is up! Between some set backs (stupid shit, mostly, a few monster encounters) and getting into Coba late, then a wonderfully awkward run-in at the bar when he just wanted a late snack before passing out for hours, he's still awake, despite the fact that it's... pretty far into the night.
The voice from his medallion is unexpected, but not unwelcome. Especially with the way Noishe lifts his head and wags his tail with an excited, whining sort of 'wuff!'.]
Yeah, I'm still up. How'd you guess? [HE SOUNDS TIRED AF but like not half asleep, at least.] I was a little late getting into Coba.
I wasn't really expecting it, to be honest. I was worried about waking you.
[But he called anyway, which means this is probably pretty important maybe.]
You saw the message about Jinx. [not a question, he'd seen Lloyd reply to the originally message. It's hard to mistake that handwriting okay.] I just... wanted to see how you were doing.
[That works great, actually, because the journal is public af. Also much slower when you have this idiot.
But hey, the medallion is speaking! With absolutely no warning, as per usual. Just bam, talking to someone, whether you want to or not. God, communication in this place is inconvenient.]
Oh- hey! [Okay, voice, voice, it sounds lliiike--] Flynn, right? Are you feeling better?
[Who knew stopping in Tikal meant immediately getting roped into working? Yuri does get the all hands on deck idea, and fine, he'll help. He probably would have kept watch all by himself if he'd noticed they'd needed it, but he's still grumbling about it now.
By some trick of fate, he's ended up with Lloyd, out at one of the smaller gates. Despite the incense creeping in at the edge of the trees, there is absolutely nothing happening. Yuri sighs, adjusting his mask over his face.]
[Randomly conscripted into guard duty is like half of the Jaguar life. But hey, at least he's stuck out here in the gross humid outdoors with Yuri, who has always seemed like a super easy going guy. And so he can't help a laugh at that comment, breaking the dumb silence of boredom.]
Okay, but what would you want to have trying to eat you? [He's looking over, the hints of a grin visible in his eyes, even though his lower face is obscured with his own mask.]
Those plant-bears are kind of cool, I guess. Better than the giant chickens.
[He'd lingered in Tikal a bit longer than planned, just to hang out with The Hunter, really. It's not like he has any deadline to get back to Coatepec, anyway, so it's fine. And it's not long after he responds that Noishe is bounding up towards Hunter and Eagle both, Lloyd right on the dogmonsters heels.]
Hey! It's good to see you!
[And he'll start rummaging in his pocket to pull out a piece of waxed paper, unwrapping it to pull out a raw bit of some sort of meat to offer out towards The Eagle.]
[ Ayyyyyyyyy what's up bro! Hunter's already got a grin on her face at everyone's favourite Goodest Boye duo rushing headlong to the gate - bending slightly at the waist with hands spread to greet Noishe with a good ol' scratch under the chin. ]
Well, I wouldn't say no to a meal! We skipped lunch.
[ Eagle's very hungry! With Lloyd's arm obligingly stretched out, the big bird's leaned aaaall the way over to gobble up as much of the tasty snacc as she can shove in her beak. She doesn't even notice when Hunter gently encourages her to perch on Lloyd's forearm, too busy giving satisfied chirps and clicks between mouthfuls of raw meat. ]
[Yuri doesn't venture out until the next morning—he wants to make sure Flynn is okay first. There's a part of him that feels guilty for leaving Lloyd alone, even as Lloyd insists he's okay to find his way home himself. Ideally, Yuri would have gone with anyway, especially with how badly he and Flynn fumbled this whole trip, but... Well, there's that whole choice snafu again, isn't there? And that grinding exhaustion that keeps getting worse and worse, even as Yuri continues to ignore it.
But he's here now, out on the streets looking for Lloyd. He could just message him, but right now, he really doesn't feel like dragging out the medallion or the journal. He'll figure it out somehow, maybe.
Eventually, he spots Noishe sitting outside one of the houses, and that's as much confirmation as he needs. He wanders over, dropping a hand to the "dog's" head and scratching behind his ears.]
Hey, Noishe.
[And then he knocks. Lloyd's gotta be around, right?]
[Noishe had been happily sunning, and gives a soft tail swisher, ear waggle and grumblewhining noise in greeting to Yuri. At least for all the shenanigans recently, the dog(?) Is still happy to see people he knows! Especially the people his boy had been worried about.
It doesn't take long after the knock that the door edges open-- and yes, It's Lloyd, rather than any of the other denizens of the house. Still a little off around the edges, but infinitely better than Yuri would have last seen him. No extra limbs, no crazy unblinking eyes.
And for a half-second after answerig the door, he's quiet, like his brain is catching up. Yuri is here? After everything he'd put the guy through? Exhaustion (both physical and emotional) made it hard to restrain the massive relief, showing clearly on his face, and he just-- divebombs hugging Yuri. Sorry for your personal space, dude. At least he isn't crying, but like it's a close thing.]
-Sorry. [It's a muffled apology into Yuri's shirt and/or pec cleavage as he clings.]
