he doesn't want to have a deep, emotional conversation about how he feels undergoing this angel transformation. it's fine. it's - it is what it is. the perks are vastly outweighing the cons right now. who needs sleep anyway? and not needing to eat means that he's not going to be sucking up valuable resources.
its fine. or will be for a while, at least. and so he leaves lloyd and law to their own devices and starts making some contacts around town.
eventually he makes his way back to the house lloyd's staying in. rapping his knuckles against the doorframe as he steps inside. ]
Hunny, I'm home~!
Voice, the evening after Zelos told him to CALL HIS SON MAYBE
[It would be great if these medallions would like, ring or something? To give the person on the other end a heads up that someone was calling to talk to them. But they don't, so out of the blue one evening Kratos's voice suddenly comes out of the medallion, following a brief throat clearing AHEM.]
[Man, poor medallion design, 0/10. Can't even screen your calls. Some asshole just says yoiur name and here you are, acoustically connected. The throat-clear gets his attention and initial confusion, but thankfully that helps him remember that, right, he's being called.
Too bad phones didn't exist in Sylavarant or maybe he'd have a better idea of what to do with this. Oh well, just gonna. Pick that up! Physically! Which is likely unnecessary!]
[Lloyd still has to sleep because he's not an IDIOT who let themselves GO ALL ANGEL-- but even then, he's still awake. It's been a weird, busy day, but Zelos did say he'd be coming over. He'd been laying on the bed, but just-- sits upright when Zelos enters, legs sticking up, and then using the leverage to just see-saw upwards into sitting.
Just like Colette, Zelos looks the same. Acts the same. Still talks the same. But it's weird knowing how much is going on underneath. He can't help the way his eyes dip to the crystal at Zelos's breastbone, it's alternate-universe twin tucked in its brass cage underneath his own shirt.]
Oh, hey! Here I was worried you got lost. C'mon in.
[At least Noishe is here, snoozing with quiet little puppy snores on the foot of the bed. And looking almost all the way normal. Still a little weird around the ears, but whatever. He's recognizeable.]
Well, no... Or-- yes? You sound fine, I mean. Man, I never know which one to use to respond to that 'do I not' stuff...
[Always the weird late night conversations with Kratos. Like back in Triet asking about Noishe and getting stared at and then told he sucks with swords. Maybe he's just. Lonely??? Bored at night since everyone else is asleep?]
[IS THERE A SHOW?? Did you not invite him? Man, Zelos, what the hell. And look it's fine, even if you wake up the huge dumb dog, he'll just grumble and go sleep elsewhere.]
and he'll... lean against the wall and fold his arms behind his head. ]
Oh, and the masons, the carpenters, pretty much anybody who could help with the housing project. Might be able to get the supplies for cheaper than we thought.
Saying who they are doesn't tell me what they're good at...
[its sucking dicks, lloyd.]
Wait-- really? [That is excellent news, though, and he perks up a bit more. He hadn't forgotten about their plans, but he'd accepted that they'd need more to start with-- and maybe had been focusing more on odd jobs around the towns to try and build up some gold for it.]
[And man, it's still! Weird!! To be like emotionally open?? With your dad who was also a big enemy and everything else?? But when has a little weirdness ever stopped him from trying.]
But it's kinda nice, too. You know, just... Being thought of, I guess. [Yeah, he definitely sounds kinda embarrassed saying it, but. you know, whatever. he can't always look or sound cool. And it's just a magic call so its FINE no one has to look at him.]
[Ohh. Well. Coba is definitely more central, so it makes sense that it would have easier access to materials-- which does make them cheaper. See, Lloyd can understand the basics of economy when it's basic shit like "Wood is cheaper in a forest" and "stone is cheaper at the quarry".]
I guess they don't really count on people able to haul all this stuff through the mist. Not without a few days and possibly someone getting eaten by a monster, at least.
That's great, though! I wouldn't have even thought of doing that.
[UNSURE. But he doesn't know what a brain looks like so like he can't correct him.]
Ahuh. Still, though, that's pretty good. Did they say when they'd want the money? I could see if anyone in Coba needs some jobs done, while we're here... Maybe someone will need something taken back in Tikal?
[Lloyd is the only one that's allowed to call out his stupidity.
and wait AH HAH THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT ZELOS SAID. Maybe just letting Lloyd know that Kratos is thinking of him WILL totally help their awkward as fuck relationship! Y'know a little.]
I was worried that I'd called at a bad time, but you are always on my mind.
[Ah, here we are. The serious stuff. He nods, with a short hum, and considers...]
Is it okay to do so often? [He really just-- has no idea. SO he might as well ask.] I guess Colette would sort of hover a lot when we were fighting, but she wouldn't really do big flights a lot...
[His nose scrunches a bit, still thinking. Maybe it's because she was a huge klutz. Or maybe it's because she, like Zelos, didn't have a real key crest for it. That's why Mithos and Kratos and Yuan could do all the angel things on command and not lose their heart, right?]
It's not like I'm gonna be releasing any seals or making pacts with summon spirits here.
[ he taps the crystal. nothing to be afraid of, see? his smile doesn't falter. ]
Besides, flying's just another form of magic. And lucky for me, I had that [ god what was the stupid barely believable lie he used ] blood transfusion when I was younger, so this whole thing is cake.
[when even lloyd can call out your stupidity it deserves to be called out sorry to say. and how much does it hurt to realize that zelos was correct about a thing.]
Nah, I wasn't doing much of anything. Making sure I didn't leave the lamp on in the other room, but that's about it.
[It's. Basically an old oil lamp but whatever he's used to it. Thank god for being raised without technology and knowing how to work this shit.]
Though-- what do you usually do all night? It's gotta get old, not having anything to do or people around or anything.
