It's only spoiling if it's too often-- Right, Eagle? [It's said with the sort of grin that means 'yeah I am absolutely spoiling the shit out of this bird. but come on! She let him fly one time, she's one of his pal's companions, and she probably deserves it.]
But I guess you're right. Coba does have some cool stuff going on. And it's neat to see the monsters they manage to tame.
[There's just.... also way too much drunken revelry for his taste. Like you guys have fun and all, that's cool, but it's not his scene. Then again, with their massive population boom following Kiichpan's destruction....]
Maybe the refugees from Kiichpan will add a bit more to town. I think they're more likely to stay in town for longer than a few days than most of the Eagles, so they might have a chance of actually building something up.
[ Eagle chirps back - bird for 'ye' probably - prior to shuffling up his arm to preen busily at Lloyd's hair like he's a scruffy hatchling. Boi whatchu doin' in public looking like that, huh????? He should probably give himself a good scrub after they part ways considering what kind of snack the Eagle just had. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ]
Makes sense. [ Shrug. ] We've got more than enough space to expand the population twofold if it comes to that, once some of the older buildings are shored up a bit. Get a big marketplace going with Kiichpan merchants making the move, you know?
[ Goodness knows Coba could use some steady business to pay for all the booze her coteriemates drink in a month. ]
[lbr, a beak covered in raw chicken juice probably isn't the worst thing he's ever had in his hair. He just laughs, letting Eagle continue to try and ammend that eternal jrpg cowlick.]
Yeah, exactly! And it's not like transport would be a problem.
[His head tilts with Eagle's preening, eyes rolling up to glance at her.]
I don't remember if I've asked before: how'd you and Eagle end up partnering back home?
[ Noting Lloyd taking a surreptitious peek at her, Eagle cocks her head and stares steadily back, clearly aware she's the subject of their conversation... not that she stops fussing over his aggressively protagonist hairstyle of course. ]
We survived together or not at all. She was hurt and needed protection, I was lost and needed a guide. [ Shrug. There's more to that story if he wants to hear it, but that's the ordeal in a nutshell. ] A blessing from the Tall Ones, you could say.
What about you and Noishe? Did you raise him from a pup?
[It's cool, he could use the fussing. Thx, Eagle. u a pal. At least Noishe is far less fussy with The Hunter, content to be used as a guide-doggy and support, keeping an easy, gentle pace with their steps.]
So you two helped each other! Are the Tall Ones the spirits or gods in your world?
[Oh, but Noishe... he looks over to the dogmonster and laughs, shaking his head.]
Oh, no-- other way around, actually. I don't know how old he is, but Kratos says he's had this form for a few thousand years? Apparently he was a bird when Kratos first met him. And before that, he would have been a fish. He's been with me since I was born, really.
[And Noishe lifts his head proudly with a crooning noise! Noble Protozoan and all that!]
He's got a few more forms to go through, too, if what the elves told me was true. But I don't think he'll be evolving anytime soon.
Spirits of the land in charge of different things; the sun, the rain, warmth, trees and flowers. I can tell you their story if you like --
[ Hol' up........"A FEW THOUSAND" year old doggo???? EXCUSE U WHAT Hunter sorta just... side eyes Lloyd for a moment or two, not entirely sure he isn't pulling her leg. Birds don't turn into dogs, silly! Oh but he did mention protozoans before so there's that in his favour. ]
That's hard to believe. [ She's impressed though! Noishe struts his stuff like a model pupper, and Hunter's laughing tone returns, charmed by this odd but endearingly fuzzy beastie. ] Maybe he's an ancient god too. The Tall Ones changed forms often.
